Juvelook vs skin booster injections in Myeongdong: what actually differs

“Skin booster” is a broad label, not one treatment: published terminology work states that the term has no established comprehensive definition. Juvelook is a named product inside that label, combining PDLLA with hyaluronic acid, while a hydration injection names a route — injecting into the skin — whose content depends on the product used. At Abijou Myeongdong both sit in the Skin Booster menu, the hydration items are listed under the product name Lilied, and the menu also lists a first-visit package that pairs the two. Which one fits you is decided at consultation.

Is Juvelook a skin booster, or something different?

Both answers are partly right, which is why the search is confusing. “Skin booster” is an umbrella term: a 2024 paper on skin booster terminology states that a specific, comprehensive definition has not yet been established. Juvelook is one named product that clinics place under that umbrella, and Abijou Myeongdong lists it in its Skin Booster category. So the useful comparison is not Juvelook against a category, but Juvelook against the specific hydration injection a clinic would give you instead.

At Myeongdong, that alternative is the Skin Hydration Injection menu, whose items name the product Lilied. Juvelook Volume is a separate item listed in the filler and facial-volume menu, so check which of the two names a quote refers to.

What goes into the skin in each case?

The difference starts with the material. Juvelook is described by its maker as PDLLA combined with hyaluronic acid. A hydration injection is defined by where the product goes, so its content depends entirely on the product named on the package.

  • Juvelook: the product name, not one procedure. Published protocols include direct injection, microneedling-assisted delivery and needle-free microjet delivery, and what is reported for one method should not be copied to another.
  • Hydration injection: the largest controlled trial in this area used non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid injected 1.0 to 1.2 mm into the skin at 4 mL per session.
  • A systematic review of 15 studies reported hyaluronic acid alone performing better than cocktail mixtures.
  • At Myeongdong, ask what the Lilied product contains, its manufacturer and the volume per session before comparing it with Juvelook.

What did the studies measure, and over how many sessions?

The two have been studied with different designs, so their numbers describe different things and cannot be ranked against each other.

  • Juvelook: a 2025 case series of 15 people used three sessions three weeks apart, combining microneedling with PDLLA, and reported changes in pores and skin texture. A needle-free microjet study used five sessions and assessed people through 24 weeks.
  • Hydration injection (non-cross-linked HA): a randomised, evaluator-blinded trial of 448 people gave three sessions on days 0, 28 and 56. At day 84, moderate-or-greater improvement on the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale was recorded in 90.09% of the treated group against 9.57% of the untreated group. Follow-up ended at day 84.
  • A study’s follow-up window is the period it observed, not how long a result lasts for you. Your number of sessions is set after assessment.

What are the downsides and reported reactions?

Both are injections, so discomfort and short-lived marks are part of the picture. The literature also records problems, some of which appear weeks later.

  • Juvelook: injection discomfort varies with area, technique and sensitivity. Temporary redness, swelling or bruising has been reported, and a published case report documents a nodular reaction after PDLLA injection.
  • Hydration-type injections: in a review of 423 people with non-tuberculous mycobacterial infection after mesotherapy, symptoms began a mean of 32.5 days after injection.
  • In a series of 31 people treated for complications after hyaluronic acid injection, delayed nodules were recorded in 32.1% of cases. This describes people who already had a problem, not how often problems occur.
  • If you are travelling, keep the product name and the clinic’s contact route in writing, because late signs usually appear after you are home.

What does the Myeongdong menu list for each?

HISTORICAL EXAMPLE, not a current quote. The table below shows Juvelook and hydration-injection items from the Abijou Myeongdong menu as observed on 12 October 2026. Promotional and first-visit items are labelled as such; amounts exclude VAT.

  • Juvelook is sold by volume (1cc, or 2cc for the eye item); the hydration items are sold by Lilied volume (2cc, 5cc) or as a package with a Cryocell step.
  • One October promotional hydration item is labelled Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only, so it does not apply to a weekend visit.
  • A menu price is the cost of an item, not a measure of result. Ask for a written quote naming the product, volume and session count.

Can Juvelook and a hydration injection be done in one visit?

The Myeongdong menu lists a first-visit trial package that pairs Juvelook with a hydration injection in one session, so the combination exists as a menu item. Whether it suits your skin, and in what amounts, is a clinical decision made at consultation.

Tell the clinic about any other injectable, laser or energy treatment you have had recently or plan during the same trip, because recent procedures are part of the assessment.

What should you ask before choosing?

These questions turn a name comparison into a plan you can check.

  • Is this standard Juvelook or Juvelook Volume, and for which area?
  • For the hydration injection: what is in the syringe, from which manufacturer, at what volume, and is anything mixed in?
  • Which delivery method and depth are planned, and who performs it?
  • How many sessions are planned, at what interval, and does the quote cover one session or a package?
  • What aftercare will I receive, and how do I reach the clinic from abroad?
  • Disclose pregnancy or breastfeeding, skin infection or inflammation at the site, keloids, reactions to past injectables, autoimmune conditions, blood thinners and recent procedures.

Frequently asked questions

Is Juvelook a skin booster?

It is commonly grouped with skin boosters, and Abijou Myeongdong lists it in its Skin Booster menu. “Skin booster” itself has no established comprehensive definition, so the label tells you little; the product name, PDLLA plus hyaluronic acid in Juvelook’s case, is what to compare.

Do Juvelook and a hydration injection do the same thing?

They are different materials studied in different ways. Juvelook combines PDLLA with hyaluronic acid; the hydration-injection trial cited here used non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid over three sessions with assessment at day 84. Their published figures cannot be ranked against each other, and neither is a promise of a result for you.

Which skin booster is better?

There is no single answer that fits everyone. The choice depends on your concern, the area, the exact product, the delivery method and your history, assessed in person. Ask the clinic to name the product and explain why it is proposed for your concern.

What is better, Juvelook or Rejuran?

They are built on different materials: Rejuran is based on polynucleotide (PN), while Juvelook combines PDLLA with hyaluronic acid. Neither is automatically better. A clinician chooses after assessing your skin and goal; both appear on the Abijou Myeongdong skin booster menu.

Can I have Juvelook and a hydration injection on the same day?

The Myeongdong menu lists a first-visit trial package combining Juvelook with a hydration injection in one session, KRW 141,900 in the 12 October 2026 snapshot (VAT excluded, promotional). Whether it suits you is decided at consultation.

How much do they cost at Abijou Myeongdong?

In the 12 October 2026 snapshot, Juvelook 1cc was KRW 109,000 and Lilied hydration injection 2cc was KRW 108,900, both excluding VAT. Promotional items were also listed. Prices change, so check the current menu before your visit.

What are the downsides of Juvelook?

It is an injection, so discomfort can occur, and temporary redness, swelling or bruising has been reported. A case report documents a nodular reaction after PDLLA injection. Published studies are small, and protocols used several sessions, so one visit is not the schedule those studies tested.

I fly home a few days later. What should I watch for?

Watch beyond the trip. After mesotherapy-type injections, documented mycobacterial infections began a mean of 32.5 days after treatment. Keep the product name and the clinic’s contact route, and contact the clinic for a new lump, spreading redness, increasing pain or drainage. As general safety guidance rather than a study finding, seek emergency care at once for sudden vision change or skin turning pale or mottled.

How Abijou works

Abijou started in Gangnam in 2006 and opened the Myeongdong branch in March 2007. Myeongdong is where office workers and visitors to Seoul overlap, and a clinic that only opens on weekday afternoons misses most of both. Running with no lunch break and staying open on Sunday was a decision made for that reason. The line we work to is skin transformation woven into everyday life — care you can keep up with, rather than one dramatic intervention.

  • Opened March 2007 — now one of 17 Abijou branches nationwide
  • Open Saturday and Sunday, and no lunch break on any day of the week
  • We quote the official published price list as it stands
  • Across the 17 branches in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon and Busan: over 1,000 medical professionals and more than 350 certified medical devices
  • Authentic products only, in appropriate amounts — the treatment is fitted to the condition, not to a package
